Miss South Africa Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters  crowned Miss Universe 2017

 

22 years old Business Management graduate Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters was crowned Miss Universe 2017 beating more than 90 women from across the universe during a finale  held at The AXIS at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States. Iris Mittenaere of France crowned her successor Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters of South Africa at the end of the event.  Outgoing Queen Iris Mittenaere of France crowned her at the end of the event.

First runner-up was Miss Colombia Laura  González and second runner-up was Miss Jamaica Davina Bennett. Miss Thailand Maria Poonlertlarp and Miss Venezuela Keysi Sayago were the other top 5 finalists.

The other contestants who made it to the top 16 were Sri Lanka, Ghana, Spain, Ireland, Croatia, Great Britain, USA, Brazil, Canada, Philippines and China.

It was Demi’s answer during the competition’s  final Q&A round that helped her clinch the crown. She was asked about the most important issue she thought was facing women in the workplace.  “In some places, women get paid 75% of what men earn for doing the same job, working the same hours — and I do not believe that this is right,” she said. “I think we should have equal work for equal pay for women all over the world.”

The six judges of the finale were Wendy Fitzwilliam – Miss Universe 1998, Jay Manuel – television host, creative director, and makeup artist, Ross Mathews – television personality, Megan Olivi – Fox Sports 1 host and reporter, Lele Pons -Vine and YouTube personality and Pia Wurtzbach – Miss Universe 2015

Natividad Leiva is Miss Universe Chile 2017.

25 year old Natividad Leiva is the winner of Miss Universe Chile 2017 during the annual pageant held in Turner, Chile. Natividad succeeded Catalina Cáceres , Miss Universe Chile 2016. The new Miss Universe stands 1.8m tall and will represent Chile at Miss Universe 2017 on November 26th in Las Vegas, Nevada.

At the same contest, Valentina Schnitzer was crown first runner-up and the second runner-up was Ingrid Aceiton. Gabriela Castro and Maria Jose Munoz completed the top 5.

This is the third time, Natividad participates in the Miss Chile. She was 1st Runner Up at Miss Universe Chile 2014, was crowned Miss Earth Chile 2015 and made it to the top 8 at Miss Earth contest. Again, she bagged the 1st Runner Up title at Miss Universe Chile 2016.

Marisol Acosta is Miss Universe Uruguay 2017

Marisol Acosta (20) was officially appointed as Miss Universe Uruguay 2017 by Escuela de Modelos y Actitud Agency and TNT Latin America, the franchise holders for Miss Universe in Uruguay to represent Uruguay at this year’s Miss Universe competition to be held in Las Vegas, Nevada on November 26th.

Esonica Veira is Miss Universe US Virgin Islands 2017

28 year old Esonica Veira was crowned Miss Universe U.S. Virgin Islands 2017 which took place on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at the Embassy Suites by Hilton in Boca Raton, Florida. She succeeded Carolyn Carter and will now represent the U.S. Virgin Islands at the 66th Miss Universe competition on November 26th in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Esonica stands 1.73 m tall and is from Saint Thomas. She works as a model and stylist. She is not new to pageant. She has tasted success earlier. She was Ms. America’s Outstanding Teen Talent Winner 2006 and Virgin Islands Carnival Queen 2007. Veira was named the fourth runner-up to Miss Supranational 2013, she also made it to the top 15 of Miss World 2011 and represented US Virgin Islands at Miss Earth 2014.

Lauren Howe is Miss Universe Canada 2017

Lauren Howe has just been crowned Miss Universe Canada 2017 in a finale held at Metro Toronto Convention Centre, Toronto on 7 October, 2017. She won the right to represent Canada at Miss Universe 2017 to be held in the US in November over 64 other women from across Canada. She succeeded Siera Bearchell, Miss Universe Canada 2016.

Marta Magdalena Stepien was named first runner-up, Meral Özerdinç was adjudged the 2nd runner-up. The third runner-up title went to Diana Lai, and the fourth runner-up, Kathryn Kohut.

Lauren is a recent Industrial Engineering graduate who is working as a project manager, actress, model, sports host and entrepreneur. She won Miss Teen Canada in 2011 and bagged 4th Runner Up at Miss Teen World 2012 and 2nd runner up at Miss Universe Canada 2014.

Stefania Incandela is Miss Universe Argentina 2017

Stefania Incandela has been chosen as Miss Universe Argentina 2017 on October 5, 2017 after a casting call was made in Buenos Aires. This year there was no televised pageant or contest. Stefania succeeded Esteffania Bernal, Miss Universe Argentina 2016.

Nikoleta Todorova is the new Miss Universe Bulgaria 2017

19 years old Nikoleta Todorova has been chosen as the new Miss Universe Bulgaria 2017 after the actual winner Mira Simeonova couldn’t compete at Miss Universe 2017 as Mira could not meet the age requirement of Miss Universe.

Mira is 17 years old. Miss Universe delegates must be atleast 18 years old to compete.  Nikoleta Todorova to represent her country at Miss Universe 2017 on November 26th in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Yasmine Cooke is Miss Universe Bahamas 2017

 

Yasmine Cooke has been crowned Miss Universe Bahamas 2017 at a gala held this Sunday 1st. October, at Atlantis Theatre, Paradise Island. She succeeded Cherell Williamson – Miss Universe Bahamas 2016, after overcoming a tough competition from 7 other contestants.

Yasmine is a medical student from Nassau and she’ll represent Bahamas in the upcoming Miss Universe pageant this November in Planet Hollywood, Las Vegas.

Michaela Söderholm is Miss Universe Finland 2017

 

Michaela Söderholm, 25, was crowned as Miss Finland 2017 at Hotel Kalastajatorppa in Helsinki’s Munkkiniemi district on Sunday evening, 01 October 2017. She bested 10 other hopefuls to win the coveted crown.

Söderholm, who comes from Helsinki, will now represent Finland at Miss Universe 2017 to be held in the US in November this year.

At the same event, the first runner-up was bagged by Adriana Gerxhalija while the second runner-up title went to Pihla Koivuniemi.

Sofía del Prado crowned Miss Universe Spain 2017

The representative of Castilla-La Mancha, Sofía del Prado, a native of Villarrobledo (Albacete) , has won the Miss Universe Spain 2017 crown  in the final gala that was held in Malaga.

Sofia will be Spain representative in the next Miss Universe contest, to be held in November in the US.

Sofia is 22 years old, measures 1.82, studies International Relations and speaks English, French and German.  She has already won in 2015 the international competition Reina Hispanoamericana in Bolivia.

Sophia Koch is Miss Universe Germany 2017

At the conclusion of the final night of competition, Sophia Koch from Saxony-Anhalt won the title of Miss Universe Germany 2017 held on September 24, 2017 in the Dormero Hotel Bonn in Windhagen. She overcame a stiff competition from nine other finalists to get the crown from Johanna Acs, Miss Universe Germany 2016.

20 year old Sophia Koch stands 1.7m tall and studies sociologist and literature. She will now represent Germany at the next Miss Universe Competition in the United States.

The first runner-up was Sophie Imelmann and the second runner-up was Dalina Staszewski.

 

Harlem-Cruz Ihaia who wants to break the stereotype of young Māori wins Miss Universe New Zealand 2017

19-year-old Harlem-Cruz Ihaia has been crowned Miss Universe New Zealand 2017 at the recently concluded grand final at Skycity Theatre on Saturday night, which was televised free-to-air and live streamed. She was crowed by Tania Dawson, Miss Universe New Zealand 2016.  Harlem-Cruz will now represent New Zealand Miss Universe 2017 competition to be held in November.

Harlem-Cruz is a teacher at Te Kupenga o te Mātauranga kōhanga reo in Onekawa. Her motto is, ‘Be yourself, everyone else is already taken.’

Harlem-Cruz runners up included – Brooke Houia (1st runner-up), Shek Delos Santos (2nd runner-up), Sarah Le Grince (3rd runner-up) and Holly Waghorn (4th runner-up).

In an interview with Te Kāea earlier this year, she said she entered the competition to try to break the stereotype of young Māori.

“I went there with a strong belief in my Māori identity and if they didn’t like it, oh well, I would’ve left the competition. I really want to stay true to my Māori culture in this whole thing and that’s what sets me apart from the other girls.”

“To break the image of every young teenager wanting to be the next Kylie Jenner, I just want to prove that we can all be ourselves and to inspire, hopefully, the world,” she said.

Ihaia wins a limited addition Honda Jazz RS Sport and will do four overseas trips, including to the grand final, as Miss Universe NZ.

In honour of her win, members of her whānau burst out of the crowd and performed a rousing haka in traditional Maori wayy.

 

Mareeya Poonlertlarp is Miss Universe Thailand 2017

25-year-old Mareeya Poonlertlarp, a half-Thai, half-Swedish model, was crowned Miss Universe Thailand 2017 at Siam Paragon Hall on Saturday night. She succeeds Chalita Suansane, Miss Universe Thailand 2016 and top 6 semi-finalist at Miss Universe 2016.

The 183cm tall model and new queen of Thailand was a hot favourite to win the crown and as a winner of the prestigious contest, she will now compete at Miss Universe 2017 to be held later this year.

Mareeya is a postgraduate in marketing from the Stockholm Business School and is fluent in four languages – Thai, Swedish, English and Mandarin. She won 1 million baht, a diamond tiara and a car, as well as the trophy.

First runner-up Supaporn Litiphruek received half a million baht, and joint second runners-up Suraphuen Artkongharn, Ratchanok Nawaset and Paweensuda Du-uen each pocketed 150,000 baht.
