After a successful auditions held across the Northeast region and groomin session, the finale of the 16th edition of Sunsilk Mega Miss North East was held at the ITA Cultural Complex, Machkhowa on Saturday evening in the presence of 1000 spectators from all across the northeastern region. At the end of the event, Mariam Longri from Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh, was crowned Mega Miss North East 2018.
Tsurila from Chumukedima, Nagaland was adjudged the first runners up while Jyotismita Baruah from Assam finished as the second runners up.
Mariam was crowned by Mega Miss North East 2017 Mary Khyriem. As the winner of the contest, prize package worth approximately Rs 7 lakhs, including the winning crown and sash of Sunsilk Mega Miss North East 2018, a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh, opportunity to become the face of Sunsilk’s print and outdoor campaigns.
Additionally, the three winners will also get a scholarship for a 3-years bachelor’s degree course in media & entertainment at ITFT, Chandigarh and a 6-months aviation & hospitality course from TRIG Empowering Institute, Guwahati.
