Winwyn Marquez is the first filipina to win Reina Hispanoamericana 2017

Winwyn Marquez who is the first from Philippines to compete in Reina Hispanoamericana becomes the first filipina to win the crown of Reina Hispanoamericana 2017 on Saturday night in Bolivia . She bested bested 26 other beauties from Spanish speaking countries and former Spanish colonized countries in the competition, which celebrates the Hispanic heritage and culture. The outgoing queen Maria Camila Soleibe from Colombia crowned Marquez at the end on the event.

In second place was the representative of Brazil, Venezuela came in third, Mexico was in fourth place, Bolivia in fifth place. Misses Cuba, Paraguay, Chile and Peru were the other finalists.

At the finals of the contest, Marquez was asked how she would promote the Hispanic-American culture with the great difficulty or barrier of language during the question and answer round. She answered: “Language can be learned but the will and determination to contribute to the organization cannot. It has to come from the heart. It has to be natural. I believe that kindness is a universal language that if you treat people with tolerance, patience and love, you will understand each other. The Hispanic culture is not about language only. It’s about love for God, love for country, love for history and culture and love for family. As a Filipina with a unique heritage, I have instilled that. I am ready to promote the Hispanic culture not just in Asia but in the whole world. It is time to celebrate the Hispanic culture. It is meant to be celebrated,”

This brilliant answer was enough to win her the crown for her and the first for Philippines.

Before winning the crown Marquez already had won various special awards such as Miss Ipanema at the second Gala de la Belleza (Gala of Beauty), and first runner up in the Miss Personalidad Udabol competition.
