21-year old, Seo Jae-won from the Gyeongi province has been crowned Miss Korea 2017 on July 7 at Seoul’s Universal Arts Center during a national finale of the ‘2017 Miss Korea’ beauty pageant. Seo Jae-won bested 32 other hopefuls for the crown in the national final round.
1st runner-up spot was shared between Jung Da Hye (21, Seoul) and Lee Han Na (20, Miss Korea Philippines), while the 2nd runner-up title was shared among 4 contestants. i.e. Pi Hyun-ji from In-cheon, Kim Sa-rang from Seoul, Nam Seung-woo from Seoul and lastly, Lee Soo-yeon from Gyeong-buk.
The new queen of Korea, Seo Jae-won, has a degree in Korean ballet from the Korea National University of Arts. She is 175.2cm and 54 kgs, and hopes to become a professional ballerina.
Miss Korea 2017 pageant started with 51 contestants competing in round one, then narrowed down to 33 for the final round. The contestants comes from various Korea province who were either winners or runner-up of the regional round and overseas winners of Miss Korea China, Philippines, Japan and USA.
Out of the top 7 (Miss Korea and her runners up), two of them will represent Korea at Miss Earth 2017 and Miss International 2017. The Miss Korea org. is trying to get back the franchise of Miss Universe.
