Out of the 14 hopefuls competing for the crown of Miss Earth Guam, Emma Sheedy from Yigo won the crown of Miss Earth Guam 2017 during the coronation night on Wednesday, June 21 at the Sheraton Laguna Guam Resort. She succeeds Gloria Nelson as the new Miss Earth Guam and she will now travel to Philippines later this year to represent Guam at the Miss Earth 2017 contest. She will try her best to become the next Miss Earth and the first from Guam.
Sheedy also won Photogenic Award at the same contest, was awarded Best in Evening gown and placed in second in native costume, and was Her environment platform was illegal dumping.
The elemental title winner were Julia Naputi Rivera (Miss Fire Guam), Jenna Deena Panuelo (Miss Water Guam) and Jestyne Sablan (Miss Air Guam).
Sheedy is a member of Guam’s national track and field team and the co-editor of the Pacific Daily News’ VIBE program. She’s an incoming senior at Guam High School and will be the editor of the program in the upcoming school year.
