21-year-old business and finance professional will represent Colombia in Miss World 2017 finals to be held in December in Sanya, China. Maria Beatriz Daza from Guajira won the crown of Miss Mundo Colombia 2017 held on June 17, 2017 in the city of Bogota where candidates from 22 regions of Colombia competed for the title and crown of national beauty. Shirley Atehortua – the outgoing queen crowned her successor Maria Beatriz Daza at the end of the gala.
Yhully Bell Gómez and Karen Ortiz finished at 2nd and 3rd respectively. Lorena Osorio and Raquel Guerrero were the remaining top 5.
The new winner of Miss World Colombia Maria speaks English and is 1.82 centimeter tall. She will try her best to win the crown to become the first Colombian to win Miss World crown. The last time a Colombian placed in Miss World was in 2012 when Bàrbara Cristina Turbay Ridao entered the top 30 and the closest to the crown was in 1996 and 2002 when Carolina Arango Corrales and Natalia Peralta Castro finished as 1st runner-up.
