Out of the 12 finalists,Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters won Miss South Africa 2017, the 67th edition of the Miss South Africa Pageant which was held on Sunday, March 26, 2017 at the Sun City Superbowl. Miss South Africa 2016, Ntandoyenkosi Kunene crowned her successor at the end of the event. Adè van Heerden and Boipelo Mabe completed the top 3.
21-year-old final year B.Com business management and entrepreneurship student, Demi-Leigh, will now represent South Africa – the rainbow nation, at both Miss Universe 2017 and Miss World 2017 contest. She is from Sedgefield in the Western Cape. She is also a part- time model at Boss Models and Vision Management. She was the first girl in her high school to be chosen as head girl of both the school and its hostel. Demi-Leigh was also elected as the Deputy Junior Mayor of the George City Council in grade 11. She makes handmade cards and does scrapbooking. She says her biggest motivator is her half-sister who was born without a cerebellum and is completely disabled.
