Puerto Rico’s Stephanie Del Valle was crowned Miss World 2016 on Sunday, during the 66th edition of Miss World pageant held this year in Washington, DC, United States. Miss World 2015 Mireia Lalaguna Royo crowned the 19-year-old Stephanie, the second Puerto Rican to hold the title after Wilnelia Merced won it in 1975, at the event’s grand finale held at the MGM National Harbor
The first runner-up was Yaritza Miguelina Reyes Ramirez of the Dominican Republic, followed by second runner-up Natasha Mannuela from Indonesia. Catriona Elisa Gray from the Philippines and Evelyn Njambi Thungu of Kenya completed were the other top 5 finalists.
Mongolia was the winner of the internet voting contest which earned her a place in the semi-final. The rest of the finalists were the representatives of the United States, Brazil, South Korea, Belgium and China.
Hungary, India, Australia, Slovakia, France, Cook Islands, Ghana, Japan and Thailand were the quarter-finalists (top 20).
