After the debut win, there’s been a lot of speculation in pageantry if India will repeat the history of bringing home the crown. Since then the pageant has also been perceived as a perfect platform to enter into mainstream modelling.
World Supermodel Pageant INDIA, the India franchise owned and hosted by Yellow Umbrella, is now scouting for that one woman and a girl who will be whisked off to represent India during the 10th annual World Supermodel Production in Macau, based on Asian theme along with the International fashion week in May 2017.
The coveted pageant was brought to India in 2016 and in its debut participation, India bagged 2nd runner up title in South Africa during the 9th annual international contest.
The much awaited contest is open for girls in the age group of 16-19 for the teen title and women in the age group of 20-30, irrespective of marital status, can apply for the adult category.
The search has finally begun and all the applicants will go through rigorous yet simple online screening procedure. There after the shortlisted contestants will be put through several rounds virtually which will be open for public poll while being judged and scored by the jury panel. However, there won’t be any elimination rounds until the coronation night. The grand finale is expected to happen during March 2017 with the preferred locations being either Goa, Daman or Mumbai.
‘While participating in a pageant is still a dream for many Indian girls, this contest reinvents the pageant possibility by making participation easier’ says Sudha Subramanian, the National Director of World Supermodel Pageant India. She adds ‘the pageant is being organised in search of those two Indian delegates who will personify beauty, right attitude with a blend of intelligence and confidence. They will be the reflection of feminism.’
