Raíssa Santana from the state of Paraná was crowned Miss Brazil Universe 2016 and will represent Brazil in the Miss Universe to held next year in the Philippines in Januuary. The annual national gala took place at the Citibank Hall, in São Paulo. Raissa beat more than 30 women representing different region of Brazil to win the coveted crown. Raíssa is the first black woman to be crowned Miss Brazil Universe in 30 years (the first being Deise Nunes de Sousa, a Miss Universe semi-finalist in Miss Universe 1986, held in Panama City).
Danielle Marion of Rio Grande do Norte was the 1st runner-up, while Deise D´Anne of Maranhão followed as 2nd runner-up.
