Jeslyn Santos from the Philippines became the first Asian winner of Miss United Continents pageant last Saturday, September 24, after she bested heavy favourites like India, Mexico, Brazil and others from around the world during the coronation night at the Palacio De Cristal in Guayaquil, Ecuador.
On being asked how to unite the continents of the world, the 23-year-old Broadcast Communications graduate from Bulacan sealed the crown for Philippines answering in Spanish: “We are one if we act and think as one. We should not treat each other as strangers and competitors but as brothers and sisters. Although great oceans and land divide us, love always unites us,”
Mette Riis from Denmark was first runner-up, while India’s Lopamudra Raut was second runner-up. Brazil’s Taynara Gargantini, Mexico’s Cynthia Duque and Panama’s Rita Silvestre were the remaining top six.
