Miss Texas Teen Karlie Hay stood out among the 51 beautiful contestants and won the coveted title Miss Teen USA by impressing the judges and the crowd with her brains, talent and beauty on Saturday night at the annual beauty pageant held at the The Venetian in Las Vegas.
What sealed her fate was the last question answer round where her intelligence and wit answer to the question “what the future president should tackle with teens first” won her the crown. She replied, “Peer pressure, hands down,” She mentioned about the issues among teenager such as drinking, drugs and partying. “The next president needs to confront this issue and tell teens that you need to be yourself and be a leader and of course the next Miss Teen USA needs to be a leader.”
Miss North Carolina Emily Wakeman was first runner-up and second runner-up was Miss South Carolina Marley Stokes. Miss Alabama and Miss Nevada rounded out the top five.
