Come February, Sri Lanka will have its own first international pageant on its soil. The beautiful island will welcome 20 beauties from around the world for the prestigious Ms. Tourism Sri Lanka International 2016 pageant that will be held in Sri Lanka for the first time in February. Sri Lanka will host the 20 beautiful contestants and show the world the beauty, life, culture, natures and the finest things the ‘Pearl of the Indian Ocean’ could offer through the eyes of the contestants and the pageant. The winner of this contest will serve as a Tourism Promotion Ambassador for Sri Lanka during her period of reign.
The 20 participating nations include Australia, Belgium, China, Denmark, India, Italy, Japan, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Netherlands, Philippines, Poland, Russian Federation, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Thailand, United Kingdom and United States of America. Sri Lanka will be represented by Angela Jayatissa who participated at the Miss International pageant in Japan last year.
The winner will wear a sparkling crown studded with Ceylon stones, presently being designed and crafted by Fine Jewellery Company. The contest will take place on February 21 at Hilton Colombo and in addition to the main contest, there will be eight sub awards such as Miss Talent, Best Catwalk Model, Best in Swimwear, Miss Congeniality, Miss Photogenic, Miss Personality, Best National Costume and Best Evening Gown.
I am quite thrilled and happy to know that Sri Lanka will have its own pageant and will show its beauty through beauty pageant. It’s a great way to show the world about Sri Lanka’s potential to host pageants besides its natural beauties. Here’s wishing all the very best to the new pageant ‘Miss Tourism Sri Lanka International 2016’ and Welcome to the world of pageants!
